Heritage • No sites, features or objects of cultural significance<br />

are currently known from the study area. However,<br />

there is a high likelihood that some will be identified<br />

during an intensive Phase 1 heritage survey.<br />

These would mostly relate to historic times and can<br />

include old farmsteads and informal cemeteries.<br />

These are generally viewed to have a medium<br />

significance on a region level, to a high significance<br />

on a local level.<br />

generation activities.<br />

• Contact landowners and tenants to further<br />

expand on economic activities and current job<br />

creation.<br />

• Obtain information from the proponent on<br />

expected value of the project in construction<br />

and operations, expected tax revenues from the<br />

operation and expected job creation.<br />

• Analyse the current Majuba supply chain to<br />

determine extent of possible local supplier<br />

benefits.<br />

• Evaluate applicable information contained in<br />

previous local economic assessment reports<br />

report completed in the area for <strong>Eskom</strong> for<br />

inclusion into the EIA phase.<br />

It is recommended that in terms of Section 38 of<br />

the National Heritage Resources Act, No. 25 of<br />

1999, a full Phase 1 survey of the study area is<br />

conducted prior to the development taking place.<br />
