7.1.5.3. Coal Seams<br />

The two main coal seams on the farm Roodekopjes 67HS are the Alfred and Gus<br />

seams. The Alfred seam varies between 1 and 1.5m in thickness. It often has<br />

contaminated coal and sandstone near the top. The coal is a dull bituminous coal,<br />

high in ash with some shaly coal bands. The coal is slightly devolatilised as shown by<br />

the range of dry ash free volatiles. The Gus seam is separated from the overlying<br />
