1.4.6 Underlying assumptions<br />

<strong>Eskom</strong>‟s revenue requirement is based on assumptions relating to capacity expansion, IPPs,<br />

primary energy costs, the legislation South Africa will enact to curb electricity usage, the<br />

control period and electricity demand.<br />

Assumption 1: The revenue request only considers capacity expansion up to<br />

the substantial completion of Kusile power station<br />

With regard to expansion, the revenue being requested only considers depreciation on a<br />

replacement-cost basis and a return taking into account capacity expansion up to the<br />

substantial completion of Kusile power station. It does not include any provision for
