Transmission is responsible for planning, operating and maintaining transmission assets<br />

throughout their economic life and providing an integrative function for the reliable<br />

development, operation and risk management of the interconnected power system.<br />

Independent System and Market Operator<br />

In line with the Independent System and Market Operator Bill, <strong>Eskom</strong> has established a<br />

System and Market Operator division responsible for energy planning, feasibility studies, IPP<br />

procurement and market administration. The division is expected to be transformed into a<br />

subsidiary in the 2012/13 financial year as part of a phased approach towards a separate<br />

state-owned company.<br />

Distribution<br />

Distribution is responsible for operating <strong>Eskom</strong>‟s distribution network and providing reliable<br />

electricity by building, operating and maintaining distribution assets. It also has a mandate to<br />

partner with the wider industry to resolve distribution issues.<br />

Customer Services<br />

Group Customer Services is accountable for putting the customer at the centre of <strong>Eskom</strong>‟s<br />

business to ultimately create a fully satisfied and serviced customer base.<br />

Corporate<br />

There are a number of corporate functions that support each of the licensees.<br />

Enterprise Development<br />

Enterprise Development unites and shapes four key portfolios: Strategy and Risk<br />

Management, Regulation and Legal, Corporate Affairs, and Group Information Technology.<br />

Group Capital<br />

Group Capital is responsible for the allocation of capital at group level and for the planning,<br />

development, monitoring and execution of large-scale projects.
