COURSE OBJECTIVES AND DESCRIPTION The 25 th European Workshop on Gastroenterology and Endotherapy follows the established successful pattern of combining live demonstrations with a direct interaction between the participants, the moderators and the experts performing the procedures. The overall goal of this course is to provide information about current technology and to enhance knowledge in gastroenterology and endotherapy. Moreover, new techniques will be demonstrated and discussed with the audience, using voting system. The procedures will be performed by expert physicians selected for their outstanding teaching capabilities. Endotherapy is becoming more and more complex and fascinating new technologies have been implemented over the last few years. All of these will be demonstrated and future prospects will be discussed during live demonstrations and State of the Art lectures. This meeting is not only designed for endoscopists and gastroenterologists but also for trainees and GI nurses. The meeting is taking place at the BRUSSELS EXHIBITION CENTRE, located in the North area of Brussels. The Workshop will be held in the AUDITORIUM 2000, a comfortable half circled meeting room guaranteeing good visibility of the screen. This year, the HALL 10 adjacent to the Auditorium 2000 will host the Technical Exhibition offering to the participants and companies a pleasant atmosphere for meetings and discussion. The audio-visual transmission will be performed from 4 endoscopic suites located at Erasme Hospital and each procedure will be performed by 2 physicians, one being a member of the local staff. Live video demonstrations will include endotherapy of esophageal diseases, GERD, superficial GI tumors, portal hypertension, upper GI bleeding, biliopancreatic, small bowel and colonic diseases, as well as percutaneous cholangiographies, transjugular liver biopsies and new techniques potentially deserving discussion. 2 medical quizzes (biliopancreatic diseases and gastrointestinal diseases) will be presented. 6 State of the Art lectures will cover the most important and new fields of interest in therapeutic endoscopy and gastroenterology. Each half day of live demonstrations will be dedicated to a precise topic in relationship with the State of the Art lecture. This will however not be exclusive in order to illustrate the diversity of therapeutic endoscopy. We look forward to welcoming you in Brussels to celebrate our 25 th Anniversary !
