Dear <strong>pupils</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>parents</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>year</strong> 5,<br />
The <strong>school</strong> direction <strong>and</strong> careers guidance teachers have organised a series <strong>of</strong> events for<br />
<strong>pupils</strong> in <strong>year</strong> 5 designed to provide careers guidance <strong>and</strong> prepare <strong>pupils</strong> for <strong>the</strong> choice <strong>of</strong><br />
subjects in <strong>year</strong> 6 <strong>and</strong> 7.<br />
Thursday, 18.10.2012 in <strong>the</strong> Aula at 19.00 hrs: Presentation <strong>and</strong> assessments <strong>of</strong> results<br />
<strong>of</strong> work experience in June 2012. Evening for <strong>pupils</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>parents</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>year</strong> 5 <strong>and</strong> 6.<br />
Some selected students <strong>of</strong> last <strong>year</strong>s S5 will report about <strong>the</strong>ir two weeks in <strong>the</strong> world <strong>of</strong> work<br />
Tuesday, 13.11.2012, (1 st - 2 nd lesson): An introduction to careers guidance; helping <strong>pupils</strong><br />
identify pr<strong>of</strong>essional interests <strong>and</strong> aptitudes.<br />
Thursday, 20.12.2012, (1 st - 2 nd lesson): An introduction to <strong>the</strong> educational <strong>and</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
<strong>and</strong> ESF subject options open to students.<br />
Thursday, 17.01.2013 in <strong>the</strong> Aula at 19.00hrs: Information evening for <strong>pupils</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir<br />
<strong>parents</strong><br />
Once <strong>the</strong>se events have come to an end, <strong>pupils</strong> will be given an option form on which to make<br />
a provisional selection <strong>of</strong> subjects for <strong>year</strong>s 6 <strong>and</strong> 7.<br />
Friday, 01.02.2013, (1 st -2 nd lesson): Careers advisors will meet with <strong>the</strong>ir respective classes<br />
to read through <strong>the</strong> option form, checking <strong>the</strong> final choices. The completed form will be taken<br />
in at <strong>the</strong> end <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> session.<br />
In organising things in such a way, we hope to provide <strong>pupils</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir <strong>parents</strong> <strong>the</strong> support<br />
necessary to make <strong>the</strong>se important decisions. Should you have any fur<strong>the</strong>r questions please do<br />
not hesitate to contact <strong>the</strong> Director, or career guidance teachers.<br />
This <strong>year</strong>’s work experience (Arbeitspraktikum) for <strong>pupils</strong> in <strong>year</strong> 5 will take place<br />
from 17 June to 28 June 2013. The reports can be picked up in <strong>the</strong> secretariat on Friday,<br />
28.06.2013, from 12.00 to 14.00 hrs or in <strong>the</strong> week from 01.07. to 05.07.2013 from 8.30 -<br />
14.00 hrs.<br />
