Program<br />

Purpose: The objective of "Meet <strong>the</strong> Editors of IJRM, JCR, JM, JMR and MS" is to<br />

support young market<strong>in</strong>g faculty members <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir effort to publish <strong>the</strong>ir research <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> most<br />

prestigious outlets with<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> market<strong>in</strong>g discipl<strong>in</strong>e. Over a period of one week <strong>the</strong> editors of five<br />

lead<strong>in</strong>g market<strong>in</strong>g journals (International Journal of Research <strong>in</strong> Market<strong>in</strong>g, Journal of Consumer<br />

Research, Journal of Market<strong>in</strong>g, Journal of Market<strong>in</strong>g Research, Market<strong>in</strong>g Science) will work<br />

toge<strong>the</strong>r with a small group of young market<strong>in</strong>g faculty members <strong>in</strong> an <strong>in</strong>teractive way to provide<br />

hands-on advice on <strong>the</strong> research and publication process. Participation is limited to small number of<br />

young scholars to ensure a high level of <strong>in</strong>teractivity between <strong>the</strong> participants and editors and among<br />

participants. Topics of discussion <strong>in</strong>clude how to craft and publish consumer behavior research; how to<br />

approach and report statistical f<strong>in</strong>d<strong>in</strong>gs; how to pick your research topic and team; how to identify and<br />

communicate contributions; and how to def<strong>in</strong>e constructs and respond to reviewer comments.<br />

Target group: Full-time, tenure-track market<strong>in</strong>g faculty members (Assistant Professor level)<br />

who have ei<strong>the</strong>r recently been hired by an academic <strong>in</strong>stitution or are work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> such an <strong>in</strong>stitution for<br />

less than three years. Preference will be given to faculty members who have obta<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>the</strong>ir PhD <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>Europe</strong> and/ or are work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> a bus<strong>in</strong>ess school or university <strong>in</strong> <strong>Europe</strong>. Participants are expected to<br />

participate dur<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> full duration of <strong>the</strong> workshop.<br />

Application procedure: Applications should be sent by e-Mail to <strong>the</strong> program coord<strong>in</strong>ator<br />

(Michael Haenle<strong>in</strong>, haenle<strong>in</strong>@escpeurope.eu) by August 31 st 2012 at <strong>the</strong> latest. Applications should<br />

<strong>in</strong>clude a short (one-page) CV, a brief statement (300 words) on <strong>the</strong> reasons for want<strong>in</strong>g to attend <strong>the</strong><br />

sem<strong>in</strong>ar and a copy of a recent research paper (ei<strong>the</strong>r published or work-<strong>in</strong>-progress) authored or coauthored<br />

by <strong>the</strong> applicant. Selection will be based on academic achievement and participants will be<br />

notified by September 30 th 2012.<br />

Location: The workshop will take place at <strong>the</strong> Paris campus of <strong>ESCP</strong> <strong>Europe</strong> (79 Avenue de la<br />

République, 75011 Paris, France). Established <strong>in</strong> 1819, <strong>ESCP</strong> <strong>Europe</strong> is <strong>the</strong> World's First Bus<strong>in</strong>ess<br />

School and has educated generations of leaders and upfront th<strong>in</strong>kers. With five urban campuses <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>Europe</strong> (Paris, London, Berl<strong>in</strong>, Madrid, Tor<strong>in</strong>o) and 100 <strong>in</strong>ternational partner universities, <strong>ESCP</strong><br />

<strong>Europe</strong> represents 40,000 alumni work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> key positions <strong>in</strong> over 100 countries.<br />

Participation fee: The participation fee is 1,000 EUR. This fee <strong>in</strong>cludes participation <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

sem<strong>in</strong>ar, a group d<strong>in</strong>ner on Day 1 and an additional group activity (sightsee<strong>in</strong>g tour or similar) on Day<br />

3. The fee does not <strong>in</strong>clude travel and accommodation expenditures.
