Giesecke & devrient in Russian NFc project
Smart card developer Giesecke & Devrient
(G&D) will manufacture and personalise the
NFC-compliant SIM cards for a mobile payment
system in Russia, in cooperation with Russia and
CIS provider of technology services Sitronics
Smart Technologies (SST). The collaboration
will give customers of MTS the convenience of
paying their bills at LUKOIL filling stations by
mobile phone. A range of commercially available

EasyFuel Limited, a company pioneering
integrated cashless fuelling system in Nigeria’s
downstream oil and gas sector, has
been granted the Payment Terminal Service
Providers (PTSPs) licence by the Central
Bank of Nigeria. The PTSPs licence gives the
company the legal backing to deploy, maintain
and support Point-of-Sales (PoS) terminals at
petrol stations across the country. EasyFuel

GVR has announced the formal conclusion of a
new distribution agreement for Russia’s federal
districts of the Ural, Siberia and the Far-East
with AZS-Servis, Siberia's leading provider of

UK-based PSD Codax, has developed
self-service payment technology for Environmental
Compaction Systems (ECS)
which is being integrated with its pay-asyou-use
waste disposal units. The Codax
self-service kiosk allows customers to
purchase a unique access code to dispose
of their bagged domestic waste, rather
than queuing to pay. ECS is in discussions
with major retailers about introducing its
pay-as-you-use waste compaction units on
forecourts in the UK and Europe. Liam O
Neill, managing director of Environmental
Compaction Systems, said: “Integrating
PSD Codax with our units not only makes
it easier and quicker for householders to
dispose of their domestic waste, it also helps
us manage our company cash-flow as we
collect the cash takings ourselves. It also
provides retailers with a simple, hassle-free
standalone system from which they can
earn valuable income.”

to service the Turkish market for leak detection
systems, monitoring double walled
tanks and pipes, to protect the environment
against liquids which are hazardous to water.

cree acquires Ruud
Lighting Inc.
Cree, Inc. has announced the acquisition of
Ruud Lighting at an estimated net cost of
approximately $525 million. The acquisition
allows Cree to extend its position and increase
the adoption of energy-efficient LED lighting.
This acquisition expands the market for
both Cree’s LED systems and components
also increasing access to the lighting market
through expanded sales channels.
