Hawkesbury-Nepean River Environmental Monitoring Program

This project was undertaken by the Department of Environment and Climate Change with funding provided by the
Sydney Catchment Authority. The project was overseen by the Hawkesbury–Nepean Environmental Monitoring Program
Working Group, consisting of members of the Metropolitan Water Directorate (initially part of the Cabinet Office and later
within the Department of Water and Energy), Department of Environment and Climate Change, Department of Water
and Energy, Sydney Catchment Authority, Sydney Water Corporation, and Department of Primary Industries (Fisheries).
Data was sourced primarily from the Sydney Catchment Authority, Sydney Water Corporation and Department of
Primary Industries (Fisheries). The Department of Primary Industries (Fisheries) also undertook additional sampling of fish
and macrophytes as a component of the project. In addition, an inter-agency technical peer-review group was formed
to assist with ongoing scientific review of the program. All of these contributions were important for the successful
completion of the project.
