This publication is intended <strong>to</strong> be a helpful guide <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>transition</strong>al provisions<br />

for licensing <strong>and</strong> product <strong>disclosure</strong>. It describes what we see as <strong>the</strong> key<br />

features of those provisions in a general way.<br />

This guide is not intended <strong>to</strong> be comprehensive or <strong>to</strong> describe how <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>transition</strong>al provisions will apply in every situation. This guide may not cover<br />

some important aspects of <strong>the</strong> <strong>transition</strong>al provisions, <strong>and</strong> may simplify aspects<br />

of <strong>the</strong>m. You will need <strong>to</strong> read it <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> <strong>transition</strong>al provisions <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>FSR</strong> Act, as well as <strong>the</strong> regulations made on 8 Oc<strong>to</strong>ber.<br />

The contents of this guide are based on <strong>the</strong> <strong>transition</strong>al provisions <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>FSR</strong><br />

Act as at <strong>the</strong> date of this publication, Thursday 25 Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 2001, <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

regulations made on 8 Oc<strong>to</strong>ber 2001 for <strong>the</strong> purposes of <strong>the</strong> <strong>transition</strong>al<br />

provisions <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>FSR</strong> Act. You will need <strong>to</strong> consider <strong>the</strong> effects on <strong>the</strong><br />

contents of this guide of any changes <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>FSR</strong> Act <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>transition</strong>al<br />

provisions, including <strong>the</strong> proposed fur<strong>the</strong>r regulations.<br />

We intend <strong>to</strong> amplify <strong>the</strong> parts of this guide describing ASIC’s licensing process<br />

in forthcoming process publications, such as <strong>the</strong> AFS <strong>Licensing</strong> Kit.<br />
