The neutron capture cross-sections of Th have<br />

been measured relative to gold in the neutron energy<br />

range of 450 -1100 KeV. Monoenergetic neutrons were<br />

produced fron the Li(p,n) reaction using the monoenergetic<br />

protons from the Trombay Van de Qraaff Accelerator<br />

and a liquid nitrogen cooled Li - metal tprg«t.<br />

A high resolution Ge(li) detector w?s employed for<br />

measuring the gamma activity of the product nucleus<br />

These measurements were also carried out at thermal<br />

neutron energy for the overall normalization. Small<br />

variations in the neutron flux with time were taken into<br />

account while calculating the cross-sections. The effect<br />

of self absorption and multiple scattering of neutrons<br />

In the Thorium oample were also considered. The measured<br />

cross section values are compared with the other recent<br />

measurements and evaluations.<br />
