6.25 Confirming a Faulty Ballast Capacitor<br />

Carry out this procedure with the engine shut down.<br />
6.25.1 Remove the input and output wires from the capacitor.<br />
6.25.2 Discharge the capacitor by placing the blade of an insulated<br />
screwdriver across the two spades of the capacitor.<br />
6.25.3 Using a multimeter set to the Farad (F) or capacitance (C) scale (200<br />
µF), measure the capacitor’s capacitance. Each capacitor should<br />
measure 30±1 µF. If the reading is not within this range, replace the<br />
capacitor.<br />
