Kick the Back Leg on the Serve by Conan Lorenzo The coaches and I are always talking about the serve. That’s right! The one stroke in the game where there are few variables compared to all the other shots. After our players understand the fundamentals of the serve with the stance, toss and correct swing motion, we then like to move on to getting more power with the shot. To increase the pop in one’s serve, (speaking of a right handed player) I like to encourage my students to incorporate more right hip action and extension with the right arm, up and forward to the ball thus resulting in a huge back leg kick after striking the ball! Tennis Tip To make it easy, just remember to always land on the left foot into the court with the back leg kicking out behind you. This will guarantee a great pop to the serve and commit oneself to moving forward into the court. Have fun with it and enjoy the extra mph you will see with the added leg kick!
