The monitor of choice is up to you !! whatever you want to spend<br />
So a basic DX33 system would cost you about US$900 + a monitor<br />
obviously. Sure it's not cheap but provides you a platform for<br />
sequencing, patch editing and digital audio, and being a PC can be<br />
up<strong>gr</strong>aded by you as your needs expand, much easier & cheaper than the<br />
MAC. You may see cheap off the shelf systems but usually only have<br />
smallish hard drives and 4 mb of RAM instead of 8.<br />
Quad will generate MTC, that's about all I can tell you, so you can at<br />
least sync an external sequencer. I don't know whether it can chase<br />
lock to tape or not ...??? Ring Turtle Beach and ask them. If you want<br />
full recording power there is SAW which is US$599 software only, but is<br />
phenomenal. Can chase lock, 4 STEREO track simultaneous, automated<br />
faders & mutes, and fast non destructive editing, edit lists, and<br />
automatic crossfade tools for 'razor' edits.<br />
Quad is now available mail order for .... US$350 card & software. If you<br />
want up<strong>gr</strong>ade later to SAW (when you're rich) the Tahiti card that<br />
