USCCB Posion
Consistent with the statement of the Catholic bishops of the U.S.,
The Right to a Decent Home, the USCCB supports a naonal housing
policy that includes the preservaon and producon of quality
housing for low-income families, the elderly and other vulnerable people, as well as the parcipaon and
partnership of residents, nonprofit community groups, and churches to build and preserve affordable
more to meet a shared obligaon to provide safe and decent housing for all.
Addionally, the USCCB has been a vocal and long-me advocate of the Naonal Housing Trust Fund.
Bishop Stephen E. Blaire, Chairman of the Commiee on Domesc Jusce & Human Development, sent a
too many families, affordable and decent housing is painfully difficult to find.”
Our Kids are “ALIVE in CHRIST”
This year we tried something NEW for our 5 th & 6 th graders. We combined the two
grades to form one group. This group’s name will be “KIDS in CHRIST”! We had 30
students enrolled who had a spectacular year learning about the 4 Pillars of our Faith.
We would start each session with prayer and reading the Sunday’s Gospel and tying it
to the life of 5 th and 6 th graders. The students were involved in the Prayer of the Month
Club, and 6 students were able to learn all of their prayers by heart and earned a
“Prayer Warrior” sweatshirt for their accomplishment. We would always have a lesson
based on one of the Pillars of our Faith and end the class with gym time. The
attendance was outstanding, with 13 students receiving Perfect Attendance awards and
many more who only missed once or twice. Over all, the students learned a lot in a fun
and spiritual setting. We are looking forward to next year! Cathy Day came to the last
class to welcome the 6 th graders into Junior High and presented them with T-shirts.
