3.1 Transport, storage
Transport damage
Transportation
The shipping company must be notified immediately of any damage detected after
delivery of the machine. The machine must not be put into operation if any damage
is found.
Caution
The supplied rotor locking device must be mounted during transportation in order
to prevent damage to the motor. Do not remove this device until before the power
take-off element is fitted. If the motor has to be transported after the power take-off
element is fitted, other appropriate measures must be taken to fix the axial position
of the rotor (see illustration below).
Vertical-design motors must always be transported in the vertical position if the
rotor is not fixed. If transport in a horizontal position should prove to be necessary
in special cases, the rotor must be fixed again before the machine is turned back
up. Vertical motors with suitable bearings can be supplied in the horizontal position
from the manufacturing plant.
