Air National Guard Band of the Northeast
The Air National Guard Band of the
Northeast’s mission is to provide music to
enhance unit cohesion, maintain morale and
facilitate community relations efforts.
The band has a total 37 Airmen assigned to
the unit. Its area of responsibility includes all
of New England and Eastern New York.
Fiscal year 2005 was notable in particular because the Band of the
Northeast was over strength for the first time in 10 years. New band
members are projected for fiscal year 2006, and are expected to
bring total strength to over 40 Airmen.
The band performed at 31 functions during fiscal year 2005,
including 14 internal missions and 17 in support of external missions
and community relations events. In all, the total audience count for
all performances during the fiscal year was estimated to be more
than 182,000 people.
The year’s performances included a joint force concert with the
Navy Band of the Northeast in Newport, R.I., and a total force
performance with the Air Force Band of Liberty.
Two of the scheduled external performances were cancelled during
annual training due to weather, and two internal performances were
cancelled due to wing support of Hurricane Katrina relief efforts.
In addition to unit operations, 16 members performed duty in support
of other organizations including the Air Force Band of Liberty, Air
Force Band of Mid America, Air National Guard Band of the
Midwest and Air National Guard Band of the Northwest.
The Band of the Northeast’s rock band, after having been on hold
due to personnel challenges, was reconfigured and was operational
by the end of the fiscal year.
The rock band is preparing for possible deployment in fiscal year
2006, preparing appropriate music for internal audiences.
