Massachusetts <strong>National</strong> <strong>Guard</strong> Family Program<br />
MILITARY POINT OF CONTACT (MPOC) GUIDELINES<br />
1. Introduction. <strong>The</strong> following is provided as guidance to assist the MPOC’s. This position<br />
will be an additional duty position and will be accomplished in conjunction with other<br />
assigned duties. Primary responsibility will be to act as a liaison between the Family<br />
Program Volunteers and the Unit Commander.<br />
2. Major Duties and Responsibilities.<br />
A. Serve as Military Point of Contact for:<br />
-Commanders.<br />
-Volunteers – family and service members.<br />
-State Family Program Coordinator.<br />
B. Promotion.<br />
-Integrate the Family Program into as many unit activities as possible.<br />
-Educate commanders, service members, and the community about<br />
the Family Program.<br />
C. Support.<br />
-Work closely with State Family Program Office, Commander and unit Family<br />
Program volunteer(s) in order to stay informed.<br />
-Work closely with unit recruiting and retention personnel.<br />
D. Maintain Information.<br />
-Inform unit Commander of all Family Program events, activities, or<br />
training.<br />
-Ensure duty appointment for Unit FRG Representatives are current and proper<br />
distribution is made.<br />
-Inform Unit FRG of new service and family members or other changes for<br />
sponsorship purposes.<br />
