Spring is Upon Us with Great Things
Still Expected to Come...Stay Tuned
It’s hard to believe Spring Break is nearly upon us! This morning I had the opportunity to sit in
with some classrooms and was inspired to see so many students working hard to start third
trimester on the right foot, even with visions of Spring Break dancing in their heads!
It’s this time of year, as we finish up Student Led Conferences and begin to talk about forecasting
for next year, that we often engage in reflection about what’s gone well for us so far this
year, what we’d like to work on for the remainder of the year, and we begin envisioning what
next year might hold for us. There is still so much time to accomplish great things this year!
Our teachers will be working hard this spring to help students accomplish the goals they’ve set
for themselves for the third trimester. After Spring Break we’ll be engaged in forecasting. It’s a
good time for families to talk about goals for next year. Students interested in pursuing Advanced
Math or PreAP Language Arts next year will want to keep their ear to the ground for
information about our changing process this year. During April information will become available
about application for those programs. Pursuant with the direction of our school board,
we’ll continue to reflect on how we help each student make academic progress, regardless of
where they start again next year. Not knowing what the state budget holds for education, we’ll
continue to plan on offering various enrichment options for students in the fall at Liberty, including
the targeted math enrichment we instituted this year with great success. Stay tuned for
more information about forecasting after Spring Break.
We hope parents and community members will join Principal Boerke for a cup of coffee and
conversation at the next “Perk with Boerke”, scheduled for April 21 st from 7:45-8:15 a.m. Topics
are sure to include information about forecasting for next year, what to expect as we think
about transitioning to next year, and as always, there will be time for any questions you have
about Liberty!
It’s with great anticipation that I look forward to the spring, even more so than usual, as I go on
maternity leave so my family can welcome our new baby. One of my favorite parts of my job is
seeing siblings come up through the years and enjoying the astounding differences we see between
children in the same family. I look forward to meeting my family’s second child and seeing
his or her unique personality develop. I know I’ll enjoy seeing how much your children have
grown between now and next fall. Thank you for sharing your precious children with us. It’s a
joy to work with them every day! Liberty is a very special place partly because of the way we
really do cultivate a family feeling here. I’ll miss my Liberty family this spring, staff and students
alike. In my time away from the lions, Associate Principal Julie Mueller will be available for students
and parents full time and we anticipate a seamless transition.
Happy spring! See you soon!
begin thinking about
college, especially
when it’s free. The
Washington College
Bound Scholarship is
a commitment by our
government to 7 th and
8 th graders whose families are unable to
pay for college. To receive the College
Bound Scholarship, which promises annual
college tuition and a yearly $500
book allowance, students must graduate
high school, be accepted to college,
meet the income requirements, and be
crime free. Please contact your child’s
