William Sawaya, born in Beirut 1948, now Italian,
graduated in Architecture in 1973 from the National
Academy of Fine Arts of Beirut.
In Paris and Milan he studied and experienced in the
field of Product Design which he considers an important
part of a coherent project in living culture.
In 1978 he moved to Italy and established, together with
Paolo Moroni, Sawaya & Moroni Design Office, and in
1984 they founded Sawaya & Moroni Contemporary
Furniture, where he directs the artistic and project
activities.
Lately he started to design for Companies other than his
own, such as:
Swiss Air (now La Suisse),FIFA, Bagatti Valsecchi
Museum (Milan), Heller N.Y., Sicis, Corepla
Baccarat, Tarket, Andreu World, MINI…
He joins various personal and collective art and design
exhibitions.
His work has been published on various design and
architectural books, magazines and newspapers. He
appears in various TV reportage and interviews, his work
is present in various museums, as well as in public and
private collections.

Wosh
William Sawaya è nato a Beirut nel 1948. Architetto e
designer studia all’ Institut National des Beaux Arts del
Libano, dove si laurea in architettura nel 1973.
A Parigi e Milano approfondisce gli studi e le esperienze
nel campo del product design, che considera come parte
necessaria di un coerente progetto di cultura dell’abitare.
Nel 1978 si stabilisce in Italia ed apre lo studio di
progettazione. Da allora progetta residenze ed edifici
commerciali in Italia e all’estero. Nel 1984 fonda insieme
con Paolo Moroni la Sawaya & Moroni Contemporary
Furniture per la quale dirige e coordina le attività artistiche
e progettuali.
In seguito ha iniziato a disegnare, oltre che per Sawaya &
Moroni, anche per altre società, come:
Swiss Air (now La Suisse),FIFA, Bagatti Valsecchi
Museum (Milan), Heller N.Y., Sicis, Corepla
Baccarat, Tarket, Andreu World, MINI…
Ha partecipato a varie mostre personali e collettive d’arte
e di design.
Il suo lavoro viene regolarmente pubblicato su libri di
design e architettura, nelle riviste e sui quotidiani. Appare
in varie interviste e programmi televisivi, il suo lavoro è
presente in vari musei e in tante collezioni pubbliche e
private.
