The entire family is involved in creating a safe environment
for children. In 2009, Safe Kids partnered with St. Francis
Hospital to teach Safe Sitter. Safe Sitter is a medically
accurate instructional program designed to prepare young
adolescents for the profound responsibilities of nurturing and
protecting children. Potential babysitters learn lessons such as
how to look for dangers, how to handle situations, and what to
do in emergencies.
Safe Kids continues to work with local licensed daycares
and elementary school Pre-K Coordinators to teach children
about household poisons. The Safe Kids Children’s
Environmental Health Program continues to educate the
community about Lead Poisoning, Air Quality (mold, asthma,
etc.), Rabies, Snake Bite, and Vector (mosquitoes, ticks, etc.).
