Licensure Program

Many of the students in the Duluth Cohort II program successfully completed their student
teaching this spring. They presented their portfolios and celebrated on June 17th. Dr. Chery
Takkunen, Director of Graduate Studies, presented completion certificates to students in front
of proud family, friends and faculty. We wish them well as they begin their new careers as
licensed teachers.

St. Paul Brown bag sessions

Rustad, will host a Brown Bag
session on Using CSS Online Library Resources.
November 22, Sr. Mary Rochefort will join us
to share her insight and knowledge about our
Benedictine Heritage.
The Kappa
Chapter of
Delta Kappa Gamma, an
International women teacher’s honorary
society, will award one, $ 1,000 Grant-in-
Aid to a graduate student who is
attending the College of St. Scholastica
or the University of Minnesota, Duluth,
and who has been accepted into the
graduate program of education.

Beginning this semester you will be able to register
for both fall terms at the same time. This change
occurred to better serve those students working
with grants or financial aid. You will be registering
for term number 200930, part 2E and 3E.
CRNs and class meeting dates, along with a list of
required text books, can be found as separate
attachments/links with this newsletter. Online
registration opens July 20 (midnight), closing
August 1. Don't wait to order your books; fall term I
begins September 2, ending October 23.
If you will be taking EDU 5111, Reflection &
Professional Development, you do not need to
order the Kohl book, Growing minds: On becoming
a teacher. You will be given a copy of this
text as a gift from the CSS School of
Education. Welcome to our community.
If you do not get registered online, you can still
register using the registration form (available in
GTL WebCT courses). Complete, sign, and return
to your campus GTL Administrative Assistant
(Dana or Dione).
This becomes a common question from students who are not registered for courses during the current term (summer II).
When they go to register online, they are no longer considered an active student (by the ‘system’) and get an error
message saying they do not have a time ticket. If you get this error, contact your site Admin. Asst., Dana Baird for St. Paul
and St. Cloud, or Dione Chanslor for Duluth, or the Registrar, George Beattie, and we will see that you are reactivated in
Banner.

The Education Minnesota Professional
Conference is held at Saint Paul RiverCentre in
downtown St. Paul on the third Thursday and
Friday of October each year. It includes a full
day of activities on Thursday and a half-day
program on Friday.
