Intramural Sports Rules
do not carry over. Any player on the court may call a timeout, but it must be during a dead ball
or when it is in control of a player on the team requesting a timeout.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Substitutions may be made when the ball is dead. A time out is not necessary. You must notify
the scorekeeper before making the substitution, and wait for the court official to wave you in.
There is an unlimited number of substitutions per game.
END OF GAME
At the end of the game, the team with the most points win. If the score is tied, teams will play a
3-minute overtime. There will be a jump ball to begin the overtime period; the teams will not
change baskets. If at the end of the overtime the score is still tied, each team will send five
men/women to the free throw line to shoot one free throw each. The most free throws scored by
one team will win the game.
GAME FORFEIT
All games will start at the designated times. Game time is forfeit time. NO EXCEPTIONS. The
fieldhouse clock will be the official clock used to determine time.
Co-Rec Basketball Rules
Players: a minimum number of 2 men and 2 women per team
The Ball: a women's basketball will be used
Scoring: women earn 1 bonus point more for each field goal scored (3 points for regular basket
and 4 points for a 3-pointer)
Free Throws: women will shoot a bonus free throw for a foul on a field goal attempt (3 free
throws for a regular field goal and 4 for a 3-point field goal attempt)
