The stock spiked-sediment of 2000 µg naphthalene /g sediment wwt was<br />

prepared by introducing 1.0 g naphthalene dissolved in 20 ml ethanol to 500 g<br />

sediment. From the definitive test determined that range concentration of naphthalene<br />

used in toxicity tests were 6.25, 12.5, 25, 50 and 100 µg/g. In order to find a volume<br />

of prepared substrate equal to 200 g/beaker, the spiked sediment was diluted with<br />

unspiked sediment to produce the required concentrations by the following step,<br />

- Naphthalene concentration was 6.25 µg/g used sediment 199.375 g with stock<br />

spiked-sediment 0.625 g.<br />

- Naphthalene concentration was 12.5 µg/g used sediment 198.75 g with stock<br />

spiked-sediment 1.25 g.<br />

- Naphthalene concentration was 25 µg/g used sediment 197.50 g with stock<br />

spiked-sediment 2.5 g.<br />

- Naphthalene concentration was 50 µg/g used sediment 195.00 g with stock<br />

spiked-sediment 5 g.<br />

- Naphthalene concentration was 100 µg/g used sediment 190.00 g with stock<br />

spiked-sediment 10 g.
