NATURE DISCOVERY
OVERNIGHT SAFARIS
The Alpine Reserve of the Azur Mountains
at Thorenc at 1 hour from Nice offers
overnight Nature Discovery Safaris in 10
rooms for 2 to 4 guests.
The overnight Nature Discovery Safaris
are organized by the Reserve’s directors
to share with guests their daily contact
with Thorenc’s wildlife.
A stay in the Reserve’s guest rooms is
an unforgettable experience, because it
is at dawn or late afternoon when the
animals come out of their daytime
hideaways.
The rooms are in the Manor House of
Haut-Thorenc, the Old Commons and a
newly built stone building. Ten rooms
have been charmingly and ecologically
renovated.
The Haut Thorenc Manor House
The history of Haut Thorenc Estate is
very ancient. The construction of the
Manor was begun around 1550 as is shown
by certain fortified interior elements
and the arched caves. Although much
altered during the 17 th and 18 th centuries,
the manor still conserves the style of
Provence’s fortified Manors with its
northern round towers.
The Bedrooms
Decorated in the style of Provence, the
bedrooms can welcome 2 to 4 guests. Warm
and spacious, each bedroom has its own
bathroom. Many natural materials have been
used. Some shower floors are made of large
stones gathered on the estate, the walls of
the rooms are painted with ecological
natural pigments from Provence.
The peacefulness of the site, the

friendliness of the Reserve’s team,
everything is carefully planned so that
only the songs of birds trouble the calm
of the passing days.

Overnight Safari
5pm Arrival Welcome and Bedroom Assignment
5:30pm: Guided walking safari.
Exploration of the estate, searching for
animal footprints, approaching the
bisons and the horses. Discovery of the
fauna and flora. Photo opportunities.
7:30pm : Dinner on the terrace or in
the dining room with regional dishes.
After dinner : Observation of the fauna of
the Reserve. In Autumn, listening to the
calls of the rutting stags. Eco-friendly
accommodation for 2 to 4 guests in the
Manor, the Old Commons or the new building.
Day 2
8:30 am : Breakfast
10 am: Depart Safari in Farm Wagon.
Approaching the animals. Explications
on their natural behavior and habits.
12:30 Luncheon at the Manor House
Afternoon Free:
Unguided hikes in the parts of the
Reserve where a guide is not necessary.
Possibility to sight mountain goats in
the high rocks.
Nearby Activities: The Accrobranches Park
and Ski slopes of Gréolières and Caille,
excursion in the Verdon Gorges, swimming
and nautical activities at St.Croix Lake,
tour of the perfume manufacturers in Grasse
or the Noailles Garden, stroll around the
medieval village of Gourdon.........
