Our Inspiration<br />

The G H <strong>Raisoni</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> was<br />

established in 1996 for providing leadership in<br />

education and research with a focus on science and<br />

technology. Over a period <strong>of</strong> about one decade, about<br />

5,000 students have graduated from the institute with<br />

Bachelors, Masters Degrees. Today, G H <strong>Raisoni</strong><br />

<strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> is a leading institution globally<br />

for education in engineering and management.<br />

The world is mobilizing at a faster rate and consequently the need<br />

for technical advancements. Focused Research & quality technical<br />

education is the key <strong>to</strong> achieve Academic Excellence. Since the<br />

early eighties, due <strong>to</strong> rapid industrialization and economic growth,<br />

engineering and technical education in India have been developing<br />

faster than anywhere else in the world, and India now has the<br />

second largest number <strong>of</strong> engineering students in the world.<br />

Recent Indian scientific, industrial and technological developments<br />

have earned India world recognition as an emerging global power.<br />

At GHRCE, the PG Courses are innovative in nature and <strong>of</strong>fer<br />

tremendous advantages and benefits <strong>to</strong> students. A lot <strong>of</strong> thrust is<br />

given on the research and development activities. GHRCE pays<br />

special emphasis on the quality <strong>of</strong> Post Graduate Education.<br />

Subsequently it has been reflected in our research outcomes. The<br />

GHRCE is the first institute in the region <strong>to</strong> undergo PG<br />

With this objective, in 1996-97 the institute was set up under the aegis <strong>of</strong> –<br />

Government <strong>of</strong> Maharashtra and The Direc<strong>to</strong>rate <strong>of</strong> Technical Education, Mumbai.<br />

Preamble<br />

Centrally located… almost in the heart <strong>of</strong> India, Nagpur is well connected with<br />

other parts <strong>of</strong> the country by Air, Rail & Road.<br />

Just 8 km away from the city, GHRCE campus is located on Hingna Road, Nagpur.<br />

Very close <strong>to</strong> the industrial area, the environment at the sprawling campus is<br />

conducive <strong>to</strong> academic pursuits like class-room studies and research.<br />

The ergonomic design <strong>of</strong> various buildings helps <strong>to</strong> generate a feeling <strong>of</strong><br />

spaciousness and tranquility, with ample scope for future development and<br />

expansion.<br />

The institute has much needed student-friendly atmosphere and the courses have a<br />

distinct advantage <strong>of</strong> approach, designed <strong>to</strong> suit the needs <strong>of</strong> aspiring employees<br />

and the industry in the close vicinity.<br />

Institute has confirmed au<strong>to</strong>nomy under UGC Act 1956 and affiliated <strong>to</strong> RTMNU,<br />

Nagpur. Institute has implemented Relative Grading for evaluation. Curriculum has<br />

been designed by incorporating the recommendations <strong>of</strong> National knowledge<br />

Commission. The final degree will be awarded by Rashtrsant Tukdoji Maharaj<br />

Nagpur University, Nagpur<br />

The Central Library and Central Computer Centre <strong>of</strong> the institute are the backbone<br />

<strong>of</strong> the institution and are accessible <strong>to</strong> the students and staff <strong>of</strong> the institute.<br />

The students get exposure <strong>to</strong> International Conferences; institute also provides<br />

sponsorships <strong>to</strong> conferences, for holding International workshops, arranging<br />

Industrial visits. Guest lecture <strong>of</strong> eminent persons from Academics and Industries<br />

from all over India and abroad are arranged for the students.<br />

<strong>Admission</strong> Procedure<br />

M.E. / M.Tech Programmes<br />

• ADMISSION OF CANDIDATES UNDER GATE<br />

Eligibility<br />

Candidates fulfilling eligibility requirements as mentioned above will be<br />

considered for admission <strong>to</strong> the respective programme under GATE/Non<br />

GATE category as per details given in Table-1. However the candidates<br />

who apply for admission under quota <strong>of</strong> sponsored seats shall not be<br />

considered for admission under this category.<br />

• <strong>Admission</strong> Procedure<br />

i) <strong>Admission</strong>s will be done according <strong>to</strong> merit list prepared on the<br />

basis <strong>of</strong> valid GATE score in the respective programmes indicated<br />

under the column <strong>of</strong> Eligibility criterion in Table-1. GATE score in<br />

one branch will not be valid for admission in another branch.<br />

ii) If enough GATE qualified candidates (candidates with valid GATE<br />

score) are not available, the vacant seats will be <strong>of</strong>fered <strong>to</strong> the Non<br />

GATE (candidates without GATE score) as pert merit, based on<br />

<strong>to</strong>tal marks secured out <strong>of</strong> 100 in the entrance Test and interview<br />

as indicated below. GATE candidates are eligible for Stipend (As<br />

per MHCP/AICTE rules).Institute will provide additional stipend <strong>to</strong><br />

well performing students. Additional R & D benefits like sponsorship<br />

<strong>to</strong> conference and publication fees for journals will be given <strong>to</strong> the<br />

GATE candidates.<br />

iii) No reservation period is provided in sponsored category. However,<br />

preference will be given <strong>to</strong> the candidates <strong>of</strong> reserved category in<br />

the case <strong>of</strong> equal merit.<br />

• Entrance Test / Interview for Non-GATE candidates<br />

A written entrance test shall be conducted by the institute for all Non-<br />

GATE candidates <strong>to</strong> fill up the vacant seats, if any, after admitting all<br />

GATE qualified candidates. The list <strong>of</strong> such candidates shall be displayed<br />

y the respective departments. The syllabus / <strong>to</strong>pic for the entrance test<br />

for various programmes are prescribed in Appendix –I.<br />

• <strong>Admission</strong> Procedure<br />

A written entrance test shall be conducted by the institute for all Non-GATE<br />

candidates <strong>to</strong> fill up the vacant seats, if any, after admitting all GATE<br />

qualified candidates. The list <strong>of</strong> such candidates shall be displayed by the<br />

respective departments. The syllabus / <strong>to</strong>pic for the entrance test for various<br />

programmes are prescribed in Appendix –I.<br />

Candidates securing less than 40 marks out <strong>of</strong> 100 indicated above shall<br />

not be eligible for admission.<br />

• ADMISSION OF CANDIDATES UNDER SPONSORED CATEGORY<br />

Eligibility<br />

i) Candidate who posses Bachelors degree in the respective or allied<br />

branch <strong>of</strong> engineering / technology, as specified in Table – I will be<br />

eligible for admission <strong>to</strong> respective programmes and as per<br />

Ordinance <strong>of</strong> G.H.<strong>Raisoni</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong>, Nagpur<br />

ii) The condition <strong>of</strong> minimum percentage <strong>of</strong> marks may be waived for<br />

those candidates who are teachers either in <strong>Engineering</strong> <strong>College</strong>s<br />

or Polytechnics and joined before 20.09.1989, provided they are<br />

eligible for admission in the course as per G.H.<strong>Raisoni</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>Engineering</strong>, Nagpur Rules.<br />

iii) The candidates must have minimum <strong>of</strong> 2 years <strong>of</strong> fulltime work<br />

experience in a registered firm/ company / industry / educational<br />

and /or research institute / any Government Departments or<br />

Government –Au<strong>to</strong>nomous Organization in the relevant field in<br />

which admission is being sought.<br />

iv) A letter from the employer must be furnished stating that the<br />

candidate is being sponsored <strong>to</strong> seek admission <strong>to</strong> the<br />

postgraduate degree programme. The employer should also<br />

indicate that the candidate will not be withdrawn midway till the<br />

completion <strong>of</strong> the course. The candidates will be fully under the<br />

administrative control <strong>of</strong> the institute for the period <strong>of</strong> the course.<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>orma <strong>of</strong> sponsorship certificate is given in Application from.<br />

v) Only those candidates who at the time <strong>of</strong> admission are employed<br />

in an organization referred <strong>to</strong> in above clause on (iii) and (iv) will be<br />

eligible for claiming seats against sponsored category.<br />

• Entrance Test/ Interview<br />

A written entrance test shall be conducted by the institute for all the<br />

sponsored & Non GATE candidates. The list <strong>of</strong> such candidates shall be<br />

displayed by the respective departments.<br />

The syllabus/<strong>to</strong>pic for the entrance test for various programmes are<br />

prescribed in Appendix –I. The date and time <strong>of</strong> the entrance<br />

test/interview will be updated on the website.<br />

• FEES<br />

Candidates desirous <strong>of</strong> seeking admission <strong>to</strong> any <strong>of</strong> the PG programme<br />

must deposit demand draft <strong>of</strong> required amount (refer table below) drawn in<br />

favour <strong>of</strong> the Principal, G. H. <strong>Raisoni</strong> <strong>College</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> Nagpur,<br />

payable at Nagpur or cash payment at the <strong>College</strong> Bank Counter.<br />

Financial Assistance<br />

Fellowship for Postgraduate programmes<br />

Assistantship will be awarded <strong>to</strong> GATE qualified candidates as per<br />

norms <strong>of</strong> the (MHCP/AICTE) rules for the duration <strong>of</strong> the M. Tech.<br />

programme. In addition <strong>to</strong> stipend; GATE students will provide<br />

additional stipend <strong>to</strong> well performing candidate.<br />

Deserving students may be given some teaching assignments.<br />

Institutional Assistantship <strong>of</strong> Rs. 12,000/- pm will be awarded <strong>to</strong> two<br />

students <strong>of</strong> M.Tech./M.E per department under earn and learn<br />

scheme. The students will be selected on merit basis by considering<br />

the score in written test and interview. Those who are not in receipt <strong>of</strong><br />

salary from any source will only be considered for assistantship. A<br />

student receiving assistantship will be required <strong>to</strong> work in the<br />

concerned department.<br />

The continuance <strong>of</strong> the assistantship shall depend upon the<br />

satisfac<strong>to</strong>ry progress <strong>of</strong> work, attendance, conduct <strong>of</strong> the recipient as<br />

communicated by the Head <strong>of</strong> the Department concerned and<br />

academic performance in the End Semester Examination.<br />

CONDUCT AND DISCIPLINE<br />

Students while studying in the college, if found indulging in antinational<br />

activities contrary <strong>to</strong> the provisions <strong>of</strong> acts laws enforced by<br />

Government, any activity contrary <strong>to</strong> rules <strong>of</strong> discipline will be liable <strong>to</strong><br />

be expelled from the college without any notice by the Principal <strong>of</strong> the<br />

college.<br />

All PG students required <strong>to</strong> stay minimum 8 Hrs. in the<br />

premises/Library/ Research Center & has <strong>to</strong> sign following<br />

undertaking.<br />

If any <strong>of</strong> the statement made in application form or any information<br />

supplied in connection with his/her admission is later on, at any time,<br />

found <strong>to</strong> be false or incorrect, his/her admission will be cancelled, fees<br />

forfeited and he/she may be expelled from the college by the Principal<br />

and prosecuted, if deemed necessary.<br />

All candidates for admission <strong>to</strong> post graduate courses in engineering<br />

are required <strong>to</strong> give the following undertaking.<br />

a. I have read all the Rules <strong>of</strong> <strong>Admission</strong> for the current year and<br />

after understanding these rules, I have filled-in this form <strong>of</strong><br />

application for admission for the current year.<br />

CANCELLATION OF ADMISSION AND REFUND OF FEES<br />

The candidate who has been provisionally admitted may cancel admission by<br />

submitting an application in duplicate and may request for refund <strong>of</strong> fees. The refund<br />

<strong>of</strong> fees as applicable shall be made in due course. It is made clear that such<br />

application for cancellation will be considered if and only if the admission is taken<br />

provisionally by paying the prescribed fees and by submitting original documents.<br />
