Adapter Information Description<br />

Connected Targets (iSCSI) Number of connected targets on an iSCSI adapter.<br />

WWN (Fibre Channel) World Wide Name formed according to Fibre Channel standards that uniquely identifies<br />

the FC adapter.<br />

iSCSI Name (iSCSI) Unique name formed according to iSCSI standards that identifies the iSCSI adapter.<br />

iSCSI Alias (iSCSI) A friendly name used instead of the iSCSI name.<br />

IP Address (independent<br />

hardware iSCSI)<br />

Address assigned to the iSCSI HBA.<br />

Devices All storage devices or LUNs the adapter can access.<br />

Paths All paths the adapter uses to access storage devices.<br />

Properties Link that indicates that the adapter requires additional configuration. iSCSI and FCoE<br />

adapters display this link.<br />

View <strong>Storage</strong> Adapters Information in the <strong>vSphere</strong> Client<br />

Use the <strong>vSphere</strong> Client to display storage adapters that your host uses and to review their information.<br />

Procedure<br />

1 In Inventory, select Hosts and Clusters.<br />

2 Select a host and click the Configuration tab.<br />

3 In Hardware, select <strong>Storage</strong> Adapters.<br />

4 To view details for a specific adapter, select the adapter from the <strong>Storage</strong> Adapters list.<br />

5 To list all storage devices the adapter can access, click Devices.<br />

6 To list all paths the adapter uses, click Paths.<br />

View <strong>Storage</strong> Adapters Information in the <strong>vSphere</strong> Web Client<br />

Display storage adapters that your host uses and review their information.<br />

Procedure<br />

1 Browse to the host in the <strong>vSphere</strong> Web Client navigator.<br />

2 Click the Manage tab, and click <strong>Storage</strong>.<br />

3 Click <strong>Storage</strong> Adapters.<br />

4 To view details for a specific adapter, select the adapter from the list.<br />

Datastore Characteristics<br />

Datastores are logical containers, analogous to file systems, that hide specifics of each storage device and<br />

provide a uniform model for storing virtual machine files. You can display all datastores available to your<br />

hosts and analyze their properties.<br />

Datastores are added to vCenter Server in the following ways:<br />

n Created on an available storage device.<br />

n Discovered when a host is added to vCenter Server. When you add a host, vCenter Server displays any<br />

datastores available to the host.<br />
