<strong>vSphere</strong> <strong>Storage</strong><br />

2 Select a rescan option.<br />

Option Description<br />

<strong>Storage</strong> In the Hardware panel, click <strong>Storage</strong>, and click Rescan All above the<br />

Datastores or Devices panel.<br />

<strong>Storage</strong> Adapters In the Hardware panel, click <strong>Storage</strong> Adapters, and click Rescan All above<br />

the <strong>Storage</strong> Adapters panel.<br />

3 Specify extent of rescan.<br />

NOTE You can also right-click an individual adapter and select Rescan to<br />

rescan just that adapter.<br />

Scan for New <strong>Storage</strong> Devices Rescan all adapters to discover new storage devices. If new devices are<br />

discovered, they appear in the device list.<br />

Scan for New VMFS Volumes Rescan all storage devices to discover new datastores that have been added<br />

since the last scan. Any new datastores appear in the datastore list.<br />

Perform <strong>Storage</strong> Rescan in the <strong>vSphere</strong> Web Client<br />

When you make changes in your SAN configuration, you might need to rescan your storage. You can rescan<br />

all storage available to your host, cluster, or datacenter. If the changes you make are isolated to storage accessed<br />

through a specific host, perform rescan for only this host.<br />

Procedure<br />

1 In the <strong>vSphere</strong> Web Client object navigator, select a host, a cluster, a datacenter, or a folder that contains<br />

hosts.<br />

2 Select Actions > All vCenter Actions > Rescan <strong>Storage</strong>.<br />

3 Specify extent of rescan.<br />

Scan for New <strong>Storage</strong> Devices Rescan all adapters to discover new storage devices. If new devices are<br />

discovered, they appear in the device list.<br />

1 Browse to the host in the <strong>vSphere</strong> Web Client navigator.<br />

2 Click the Manage tab, and click <strong>Storage</strong>.<br />

3 Click <strong>Storage</strong> Adapters, and select the adapter to rescan from the list.<br />

4 Click Rescan Adapter.<br />
