Glossary Problem list entry (PLE) An organized list of user reported problems, or R A unique software problem that has been reported to Unisys and recorded in the PRIMUS database. relocatable element A machine language element produced by a compiler; an object program. Relocatable elements must still undergo the process of collection before they can be executed. The system relocatable library has the file name SYS$RLIB$.relocable subroutine library. S A component of the operating system that contains useful subroutines you can incorporate into your programs. Among other things, these subroutines sort and merge data and perform mathematical and statistical operations. Software Library Administrator (SOLAR) A software tool that a site or system administrator uses to install and maintain software products. SOLAR consists of a set of utilities and the SOLAR processor–a full screen interface to the utilities. System data format (SDF) The standard format used by the Exec to format data for storage in data files. The Exec system data format is sequential, fixed-block, variable-record length, or <strong>SYSLIB</strong> U Files that contain only symbolic images (data, directives, or runstreams) in system data format (SDF). They are commonly used as print files or for data storage. Data files can be stored on mass storage (disk) or on tape. Abbreviation for System Service Routines Library, which is a Unisys software product. Its file name is SYS$LIB$*<strong>SYSLIB</strong>. It contains system definitions and procedures and processor interface and utility routines. Universal Compiling System (UCS) A system for compiling extended mode programs written in UCS FORTRAN or UCS COBOL. The UCS compilers produce an absolute element in a standard form that is called an object module. The UCS and Linking system allow object modules written in different languages to be linked together as a program. See also object module, OS 2200 linking system, zero overhead object module (ZOOM).
