INFOR Information Bits 18–23 File Continuation Indicator (FCI) Bits 24–29 The possible values are 075 The Fieldata code for the period (.) character. This value indicates that the subfield is the first one of the field, and the field contains a leading period. 000 Value used for all other cases. Character Count (CC) Bits 30–35 A value in the range 1 to 6. The character count indicates the number of characters in the last word of the symbolic subfield. Word Count (WC) A value of 1 or 2. The word count indicates the number of words in the symbolic subfield of the subfield description. Symbolic Subfield This is the character data that was entered for the subfield in the processor call statement. It is a Fieldata character string that uses either 1 or 2 words as indicated by the WC value. Each word can contain up to 6 characters. The number of characters in the symbolic subfield can be calculated using the following formula: 6 * (WC - 1) + CC The characters are left-justified, and the unused rightmost character positions in the last word are space-filled. INFOR Table Conventions The following conventions are used when generating the INFOR data: • Except for one special situation, a subfield description is generated only if symbolic subfield information has been entered for that subfield number in the processor call statement. The exception is if a field in the processor call statement contains a file name with a leading asterisk (*) character. For this situation, a subfield description is generated as if a qualifier of 12 spaces had been entered in that field in the processor call statement. • If a field in the processor call statement contains a leading period, the first subfield description generated for the field will contain a value of 075 in the FCI part of the subfield control word. • If the symbolic information in the processor call statement uses a character type other than Fieldata, it is first translated into Fieldata before being put in the INFOR table. For example, if lowercase ASCII characters are entered in the processor call statement, the symbolic subfields in the INFOR table will contain the corresponding uppercase characters in Fieldata. • If a processor call statement is continued onto more than one line using the semicolon (;), the INFOR is generated as if the call statement were on one line. 7833 1733–004 G–7
