File Continuation Indicator (FCI)<br />

The possible values are<br />

075 The Fieldata code for the period (.) character. This value indicates that<br />

the subfield is the first one of the field, and the field contains a leading<br />

period.<br />

000 Value used for all other cases.<br />

Character Count (CC)<br />

Bits 30–35<br />

A value in the range 1 to 6. The character count indicates the number of<br />

characters in the last word of the symbolic subfield.<br />

Word Count (WC)<br />

A value of 1 or 2. The word count indicates the number of words in the<br />

symbolic subfield of the subfield description.<br />

Symbolic Subfield<br />

This is the character data that was entered for the subfield in the processor call<br />

statement. It is a Fieldata character string that uses either 1 or 2 words as indicated by<br />

the WC value. Each word can contain up to 6 characters. The number of characters in<br />

the symbolic subfield can be calculated using the following formula:<br />

6 * (WC - 1) + CC<br />

The characters are left-justified, and the unused rightmost character positions in the last<br />

word are space-filled.<br />
