20.1.1.3. Information Returned by SAR$ COM Procedure<br />

The following fields of the SAR$ COM packet contain values returned by the SAR$ COM<br />

procedure to the calling program:<br />

CALL_STATUS<br />

PLUS Attribute: 18-bit status<br />

The status of the current call to the SAR_COM procedure. See Table 20–3 for an<br />

explanation of the SAR$ COM procedure call status codes. This field may also be<br />

referenced as an 18-bit logical field with label CALL_STATUS_CODE.<br />

SUB_STATUS_CODE<br />

PLUS Attribute: 6-bit logical<br />

This field contains additional information for particular CALL_STATUS codes.<br />

COM_STATUS_WORD<br />

PLUS Attribute: word logical<br />

A one-word combination of CALL_STATUS and SUB_STATUS contained in H2 and<br />

S1, respectively.<br />

RECOMMENDED_BUFFER_LENGTH<br />

PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer<br />

The recommended buffer or table length returned by the SAR$ COM function when<br />

an invalid length is specified or when an overflow occurs.<br />

OUTPUT_IMAGE_BYTE_LENGTH<br />

PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer<br />

The length in bytes of the image written out by the SAR_COM procedure.<br />

BYTE_LENGTH_OF_INPUT_TEXT<br />

PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer<br />

The length in 9-bit bytes of the character text read from the operator's console and<br />

returned in the input text buffer.<br />

NUMBER_OF_INPUT_ATTRIBUTES<br />

PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer<br />

The number of attributes returned in the input attribute table.<br />
