SAR$ WRITE The calling program must provide storage space for the WRITE packet data structure plus any necessary buffers and tables since SAR$ does not have any D-bank storage. The length of the WRITE packet is equal to the constant SAR_WRITE_PACKET_WORD_LENGTH defined in the element SAR$WPKTD (current length is 36 words). SAR_WRITE_PACKET is defined as LOCATABLE. The calling program places information in the WRITE packet data structure and passes the address of the WRITE packet data structure to SAR$ as a parameter on the procedure calls. 18.1.1.1. Required Information for WRITE Procedures The calling program must set the following fields of the WRITE packet to an appropriate value: PACKET_VERSION PLUS Attribute: 6-bit integer The WRITE packet data structure version. The current version is equal to the constant SAR_WRITE_PACKET_CURRENT_VERSION defined in the element SAR$WPKTD. OUTPUT_FILE_INFO_PKT_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word pointer The address of the output file information packet. This packet is supplied by the caller (see 18.1.2). Set to NULL if OUTPUT_FILE_TYPE is S'PRINT_File', S'PUNCH_File', or S'No_Output'. OUTPUT_BUFFER_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word pointer The address of the output buffer, used to write images to the output file or element. This field is defined only if output is to an SDF file or element. It is omitted if output is to a symbiont file. Subsection 18.1.2 describes the output buffer. OUTPUT_BUFFER_WORD_LENGTH PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The length in words of the output buffer. It must be of length 28 * dpf * n, where dpf is the disk prepping factor and n is a positive integer. This field is defined only if output is to an SDF file or element. IMAGE_BUFFER_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word pointer SAR$ WRITE The address of the output image buffer, into which SAR$ places the images to be written out. Subsection 18.1.2 describes the image buffer. IMAGE_BUFFER_WORD_LENGTH PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The length in words of the output image buffer. TEXT_BUFFER_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word pointer The address of the output text buffer, into which the caller places the character text to be written out. Subsection 18.1.2 describes the text buffer. TEXT_BUFFER_BYTE_LENGTH PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The length in 9-bit bytes of the character text in the text buffer. ATTRIBUTE_TABLE_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word pointer The address of the output attribute table, into which the caller places the attributes describing the character text to be output. This field is undefined if the ATTRIBUTE_TABLE_WORD_LENGTH is zero. Subsection 18.1.2 describes the format of the attribute table. ATTRIBUTE_TABLE_WORD_LENGTH PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The number of valid entries in the attribute table. (Each entry is one word.) A value of zero indicates there is no output attribute table. SDF_IMAGE_CONTROL_WORD PLUS Attribute: word logical If OUTPUT_RECORD_TYPE is S'Control_record', the caller must place the SDF image control word in this field and place any data words of the control record in the output text buffer.
