SAR$ READ 17.2.3.3. Close-Input Procedure Call (S$ARCLOSI) The S$ARCLOSI PROC closes the input operation. Calling Format S$ARCLOSI rpkt error return normal return where rpkt is a label identifying the starting address of the READ packet and data area. Returns If the error return from S$ARCLOSI is taken, A1 contains the call status code, A2 contains the I/O status code, and A3 contains the substatus code. These status codes are also returned in the packet fields SR$CALLST, SR$IOSTAT, and T1 of SR$STATUS, respectively. See 17.2.4 for an explanation of the status codes. If the normal return from S$ARCLOSI is taken, the input is successfully closed. 17.2.4. Status Lists for MASM READ Procedures The READ procedure call status codes listed in Table 17–6 may be returned to the calling program in the SR$CALLST field of the READ packet. These call status codes are for SR$CURVER = 3 and above. Table 17–6. SAR$: READ Procedure SR$CALLST Status Codes Octal Code Status 0 Normal return from SAR$. 01 End-of-file condition reached by S$ARREAD. 02 An I/O error has occurred in a READ procedure. See the SR$IOSTAT field for the status code and Table 17–7. 03 An outdated READ packet version is being used. 04 An invalid READ packet version is being used. 05 An invalid value is specified for SR$LNUMFMT. 06 The value for SR$IMGBUF is zero; an address must be given for the input image address. 07 The value for SR$IMGBUFL is zero; a length must be given for the input image address. 010 An invalid value is specified for SR$REQTYPE. 011 An invalid value is specified for SR$UNTRFLG. 17–30 7833 1733–004

SAR$: READ Procedure SR$CALLST Status Codes Octal Code Status 012 The value for SR$INPBUFL is too small; use the word length returned in SR$RECBUFL. 013 The input file or element accessed is not SDF. 014 An invalid value is specified in the FIP$ACTYP field of the file information packet. SAR$ READ 015 An invalid address is specified in SR$ADDRSEC; either the word offset is greater than 27 or the sector address is greater than the highest mass storage sector address of the file. 016 The input image is too long to fit in the image buffer. The image buffer word length necessary to hold the entire image is returned in the field SR$RECBUFL. To reread the image, call SAR$ READ with a larger image buffer and image buffer word length (SR$IMGBUFL) and set the read address (SR$ADDRSEC and SR$ADDRWO) to the image address (SR$IMGSEC and SR$IMGWO) returned on the previous call. 017 The character text is too long to fit in the text buffer and has been truncated. The text buffer byte length necessary to hold the character text is returned in the field SR$RECBUFL. 020 The number of attributes is too large to fit in the attribute table. The attribute table word length necessary to hold all the attributes is returned in the field SR$RECBUFL. 021 A partial image was read by SYMB$; call S$ARREAD again to continue reading the image. 022 An invalid SDF file or element label control record was read. 023 An invalid SDF control read was read. 024 The image read contains incorrectly formatted ACD or incorrectly formatted embedded shift-coded kanji. 025 An invalid character set type was read. 026 The READ packet is not initialized; a call to S$AROPENI must be made before calls to S$ARREAD or S$ARCLOSI. 027 An incorrect ACD subroutine version is being used with SAR$. 030 The file name buffer address in the FIP is zero; an address of an SDF file name must be specified. 031 The file name buffer address in the FIP is zero; an address of a symbiont file name must be specified. 032 An illegal value is specified for the file name buffer byte length; legal values are from 1 to 12. 033 The input I/O buffer address is zero; this buffer must be provided when reading from an SDF file or element. 7833 1733–004 17–31
