SAR$ READ READ_ADDRESS_WORD_OFFSET PLUS Attribute: 6-bit integer The word offset into the mass storage sector address of the next image to be read. This field is used if the image to be read is not the next sequential image. If this field is set to zero, the next sequential image is read (default). This field is undefined if the input is not from an SDF file or element. READ_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word machine integer A one-word combination of the READ_ADDRESS_SECTOR and the READ_ADDRESS_WORD_OFFSET fields, where these fields are contained in bits 13 to 36 and 1 to 6, respectively. (Bit 1 is the leftmost bit of the READ_ADDRESS field.) 17.1.1.3. Information Returned by READ Procedures The following fields of the READ packet contain values returned by the SAR$ READ procedures to the calling program. CALL_STATUS PLUS Attribute: 18-bit status The status of the current call to SAR_OPEN_INPUT, SAR_READ, or SAR_CLOSE_INPUT. See Table 17–3 for an explanation of the READ procedure call status codes. This field may also be referenced as an 18-bit logical field with label CALL_STATUS_CODE. SUB_STATUS_CODE PLUS Attribute: 12-bit logical This field contains additional information for particular CALL_STATUS codes. IO_STATUS PLUS Attribute: 6-bit status The status of any I/O operations performed by the READ procedures. See Table 17–4 for the I/O status lists. This field may also be referenced as a 6-bit logical field with label IO_STATUS_CODE. 17–6 7833 1733–004
READ_STATUS_WORD PLUS Attribute: word logical A one-word combination of CALL_STATUS, SUB_STATUS, and IO_STATUS contained in H2, T1, and S3, respectively. SYMB_STATUS_WORD PLUS Attribute: word logical The status word returned from an ER SYMB$ request. SAR$ READ See SYMB$ section, Exec ER Programming Reference Manual for further details on the ER SYMB$ status word. RECOMMENDED_BUFFER_SIZE PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The recommended buffer or table size when an invalid length is specified or when an overflow occurs. TEXT_LENGTH_IN_BYTES PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The length in 9-bit bytes of the character text returned in the text buffer. NUMBER_OF_ATTRIBUTES PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The number of attributes returned in the attribute table. CHARACTER_TYPE PLUS Attribute: 6-bit status The character set type of the image returned to the caller: S'Fieldata' Fieldata 6-bit characters S'ASCII_ISO' ASCII/ISO 9-bit characters S'ACD' Attributed character data (ACD) A value of any ASCII-like character set type defined in Table H–1. If UNTRANSLATE_MODE is set to S'Off', then any Fieldata images read are translated to ASCII/ISO before they are returned to the caller.
