SAR$ READ 17.1.1.1. Required Information for READ Procedures The calling program must set the following fields of the READ packet to appropriate values. PACKET_VERSION PLUS Attribute: 6-bit integer The READ packet data structure version. The current version is equal to the constant SAR_READ_PACKET_CURRENT_VERSION defined in the element SAR$RPKTD. The PACKET_VERSION must not be modified between calls to the SAR$ READ routine. INPUT_FILE_INFO_PKT_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word pointer The address of the input file information packet. This packet is supplied by the caller (see 16.1). Set to NULL if input is from the runstream. INPUT_BUFFER_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word pointer The address of the input buffer, used to read images from the input file or element. This field is defined only if input is from an SDF file or element. It is omitted if input is from the runstream or an alternate READ$ file. Subsection 17.1.2 describes the input buffer. INPUT_BUFFER_WORD_LENGTH PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The length in words of the input buffer. It must be of length (28* dpf * n), where dpf is the disk prepping factor and n is a positive integer. This field is defined only if input is from an SDF file or element. It is omitted if input is from the runstream or an alternate READ$ file. IMAGE_BUFFER_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word pointer The address of the input image buffer, into which SAR$ places individual images from the input buffer. Subsection 17.1.2 describes the image buffer. IMAGE_BUFFER_WORD_LENGTH PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The length in words of the input image buffer. 17–2 7833 1733–004
TEXT_BUFFER_ADDRESS: PLUS Attribute: word pointer SAR$ READ The address of the input text buffer, into which SAR$ places the character text of the image read. Subsection 17.1.2 describes the text buffer. TEXT_BUFFER_BYTE_LENGTH PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The length in 9-bit bytes of the input text buffer. ATTRIBUTE_TABLE_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word pointer The address of the input attribute table where SAR$ places the attributes describing the character text of the image read. This field is undefined if the ATTRIBUTE_TABLE_WORD_LENGTH is zero. Subsection 17.1.2 describes the format of the attribute table. ATTRIBUTE_TABLE_WORD_LENGTH PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The length in words of the input attribute table. A length of zero indicates there is no input attribute table. 17.1.1.2. Optional Information for READ Procedures The calling program may optionally set the following fields of the READ packet. The default values are obtained by zero-filling the READ packet before placing any information in the packet. SELECT_LIST_ADDRESS PLUS Attribute: word pointer The address of the select list that specifies which attributes to return to the caller. This field is undefined if SELECT_LIST_BYTE_LENGTH is zero. Subsection 17.1.2 describes the format of the select list. SELECT_LIST_BYTE_LENGTH PLUS Attribute: 18-bit integer The length in 9-bit bytes of the select list.
