(ii) Cement Concrete Causeways: Construct causeways as per drawings and con<strong>for</strong>ming to the<br />

requirements of Section 1400<br />

(iii) Pipe Culverts: Construct pipe culverts con<strong>for</strong>ming to requirement of Section 1100.<br />

9. Protection Works<br />

Ensure that protection works are constructed con<strong>for</strong>ming to the Drawings and Section 1300.<br />

10. Safety Measures<br />

(i) Provide traffic signs, guide posts, railings/parapets in accordance with the requirements of<br />

Section 1700.<br />

(ii) Security manpower should be deployed <strong>for</strong> ensuring that any person including labourers<br />

are removed from the flagged area at least 10 minutes be<strong>for</strong>e the firing.<br />

B. <strong>Quality</strong> Control Requirements<br />

1. Materials<br />

(i) Masonry Work : Con<strong>for</strong>ming to Section 700<br />

(ii) Sub-Base, Base,<br />

Bituminous Works : Con<strong>for</strong>ming to Sections 400 & 500<br />

(iii) Cement Concrete : Con<strong>for</strong>ming to Section 800<br />

(iv) Pitching/Apron : Con<strong>for</strong>ming to Section 1300<br />

(v) Steel : Con<strong>for</strong>ming to Section 1000<br />

2. The tolerances <strong>for</strong> width of <strong>for</strong>mation, longitudinal grade, grade compensation and superelevation<br />

shall be as follows:<br />

a) Width of <strong>for</strong>mation (+) 5% (-) 1%<br />

b) Longitudinal profile (±) 5% of the specified grade<br />

c) Grade compensation (±) 5% of the specified gradient<br />

d) Super-elevation (±) 5% of the specified super-elevation<br />

3. The tolerances <strong>for</strong> layout of hairpin bends shall be as follows:<br />

a) Length (+) 0.5%<br />

b) Direction (±) 20 minutes<br />

c) Grade (±) 0.2%<br />

4. The tolerances in the various courses of pavement should con<strong>for</strong>m to the provisions given in the<br />

relevant Sub-sections of this <strong>Handbook</strong>.
