Registration and Admission of New Students to 1 st grade- Students are required to get a physical within 90 days of school enrollment. Students 6 years old on or before August 1 who reside in the Blytheville School District for an average of no fewer than four (4) calendar days and nights per week with their parents, legal guardians, persons having legal, lawful control of the student under a court order, or persons standing in loco parentis for a primary purpose other than school attendance may enroll in 1 st grade. Parents must provide the student’s shot records, physical records, birth record (birth certificate, hospital certificate, statement from the local registrar or a county recorder certifying the child’s date of birth, attested baptismal certificate, passport, affidavit of the date and place of birth by the child’s parent or guardian, military ID, or previous school records), and two proofs of address, social security card, or if the parent or guardian requests the district will assign the child a nine digit number designated by the department of education. Proof of address is a rent or utility receipt showing the street address of the student’s residence. School Day The school day will begin at 7:45 a.m. Any student arriving at school later than 7:55 a.m. must BE ESCORTED to the office before going to class. Students are considered tardy after 7:55 a.m. Kindergarten lunch is served from 10:40 to 11:10 a.m. 1 st grade lunch is served from 11:15 to11:45 a.m. 2 nd grade lunch is served from 12:05 to 12:35 p.m. School is dismissed at 2:50 p.m. Student Transportation The building will not be open before 7:00 a.m. If a student is dropped off before 7:45 a.m. he/she must report to the cafeteria. Please plan to have your child at school before 7:45 a.m. When students arrive after 7:55 a.m., parents are required to come into the office with their child to check in. School dismisses at 2:50 p.m. Students are not to be picked up before this time unless an emergency occurs. Parents are required to sign students out if picked up before dismissal. All efforts should be made NOT to pick up students between 2:15 and 2:50 as teachers are in summation of the school day and your child may miss valuable information. Any change in means of transportation is to be in made in the office by a parent, legal guardian or designee. No changes of transportation will be accepted by phone or by note. They must be made in person. When parents and emergency contacts cannot be located, authorities may be called and the student will be reported as abandoned. Blytheville Primary Parking Procedures - There will be a crossing guard at the front of the school. All car riders must be picked up from the curb. Students will not cross traffic to load cars. Please get in the right lane when you turn off Byrum road. NO CURB SIDE PARKING BETWEEN 7:00 - 8:00 AND 2:15 - 3:15. PLEASE USE PARKING LOT. PLEASE DO NOT WALK FROM PARKING LOT TO GET YOUR CHILD. PLEASE STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE TO KEEP TRAFFIC FLOWING. 1st & 2nd Grade PARENT-VISITOR PARKING 1 st and 2 nd grade Car Riders: A.M. drop offs must be at the north end of the 1 st and 2 nd grade building from 7:00-7:45. Students will go directly 36
to the cafeteria located in the multi-purpose building even if they do not plan to eat breakfast. NO BREAKFAST WILL BE SERVED AFTER 7:35 EXCEPT FOR LATE BUS STUDENTS. THE STUDENTS ARE RELEASED FROM THE CAFETERIA INTO THE BUILDING. P.M. pickup students will be loaded into cars from the front of the 1 st and 2 nd grade building. Students may not be taken from class without first checking them out of the office. Kindergarten Car Riders: A.M. drop offs must be at the north end of the Kindergarten building from 7:00-7:45. BUS RIDERS For information on the bus that serves your neighborhood, contact the Director of Transportation at 763-0551. Students are to sit quietly and obey the duty teacher until their bus number is called in the afternoon. They are to enter and exit the building in a quiet and orderly fashion. Tardies The instructional day begins at 7:45 am. Students arriving to school after 7:55 am must be escorted to the office for an admission slip to class. Teachers in accordance with the following guidelines will administer the penalty for tardiness. Students entering school after 11:30 am will be considered ½ day absent. A student leaving school prior to 11:30 pm will also be considered ½ absent. 1 st offense- Warning 2 nd offense- Warning 3 rd offense- Parent Contact 4 th offense- Official letter sent to parent 5 th offense- Parent/Teacher conference Tardies start over each nine weeks. Tardies and early checkouts will result in the loss of perfect attendance even though a full day is not missed. Telephone Use Students will not be permitted to make phone calls. In emergency situations, a member of the faculty or staff will make any necessary phone calls to the parents. Visitors Parents are encouraged to visit the school. If joining us for lunch, it is necessary to check in at the office for a Visitor’s Pass. Teachers will send all visitors back to the office that do not have a pass. Withdrawal From School Parents, legal guardian, persons having legal, lawful control of the student under a court order, or persons standing in loco parentis should notify the school office before the student’s last day. The school office will arrange transfer of student records. Attendance and grade records will not be given directly to parents but mailed directly to the receiving school. The ages for attending public school is between 5 and 21. 37
