The Parental Involvement Committee includes <strong>Blytheville</strong> High School alumni for advice in school improvement.<br />

<strong>Schools</strong> will use the leaders of the Parent Teacher Organizations in appropriate decision making roles concerning the children and families.<br />

To ensure the continued improvement of the district’s parental/community involvement program, the district will conduct an annual review of its<br />

parental involvement policies to examine their effect on promoting higher student achievement. The review will be done by a committee consisting<br />

of parents and other community members, certified and classified staff and member(s) of the administration.<br />

Parties<br />

Parties and other occasions that involve serving food are limited to nine total events each year by state law. Foods brought for the following events<br />

cannot be homemade, but must be commercially produced under strict health precautions. These occasions are:<br />

1. Halloween<br />

2. Christmas<br />

3. St. Valentine’s Day<br />

4. Easter<br />

5. Field Day<br />

6. PTO/Wellness Day<br />

7. After Achievement Testing<br />

8. 100th day of school<br />

9. One at the discretion of the principal<br />

PARENTS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO BRING SNACKS FOR BIRTHDAYS OR OTHER OCCASIONS OTHER THAN THE SCHOOL WIDE<br />

EVENTS SET BY THE SCHOOL. PARENTS ARE ALLOWED TO BRING MEALS INTO THE CAFETERIA FOR THEIR CHILD ONLY. OTHER<br />

STUDENTS MAY NOT SIT WITH THE STUDENT OR CONSUME FOOD BROUGHT IN BY ANY PERSON OTHER THAN THEIR PARENT.<br />

Wellness Focus<br />

<strong>Blytheville</strong> Primary School has adopted a wellness policy that encourages students to live healthy lifestyles. As a part of this policy, students<br />

are given at least 30 minutes of physical activity each day, at least one hour of physical education activities each week. Food consumption at<br />

school is limited to what is served as part of a healthy and balanced meal.<br />

<strong>Blytheville</strong> Primary School’s Purpose:<br />

1. To educate the whole child.<br />

2. View each child individually, allowing him/her to experience success daily.<br />

3. Direct the students through learning situations.<br />

4. Strive constantly to motivate each student and evaluate his progress.<br />

5. Help in every possible way to develop socially responsible students so they can become integral members of society.<br />

6. Educate each child to his/her fullest capacity.<br />

7. Develop mutual respect among staff and students by recognizing the dignity of the individual.<br />

8. Provide for the students’ physical, intellectual, social and emotional growth.<br />

9. Educate the students to become more aware of their own interests/abilities, through both the classroom teaching and extra-curricular<br />

activities.<br />

10. Promote an awareness of the principles of right and wrong.<br />

11. Provide meaningful suggestions for improvement.<br />

Registration<br />

Registration and Admission of New <strong>Student</strong>s to Kindergarten- <strong>Student</strong>s are required to get a physical within 90 days of school enrollment.<br />

<strong>Student</strong>s 5 years old on or before August 1 who reside in the <strong>Blytheville</strong> School District for an average of no fewer than four (4) calendar days and<br />

nights per week with their parents, legal guardians, persons having legal, lawful control of the student under a court order, or persons standing in<br />

loco parentis for a primary purpose other than school attendance may enroll in Kindergarten. Parents must provide the student’s shot records,<br />

physical records, birth record (birth certificate, hospital certificate, statement from the local registrar or a county recorder certifying the child’s date<br />

of birth, attested baptismal certificate, passport, affidavit of the date and place of birth by the child’s parent or guardian, military ID, or previous<br />

school records), and two proofs of address, social security card, or if the parent or guardian requests the district will assign the child a nine<br />

digit number designated by the department of education. Proof of address is a rent or utility receipt showing the street address of the student’s<br />

residence.<br />
