The council advises the Board of Medical Practice on issues relevant to acupuncture and the licensing of acupuncture practitioners and reviews complaints. The council provides advice and recommendations to the commissioner of health on the licensure of alcohol and drug counselors and on performance issues. (Minnesota Statutes, Section 148C.02) Effective July 1, 2005, licensing of alcohol counselors will transfer to the Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.
