Several Best Management
Practice (BMP) installations
each year are facilitated by the WCD by making
technical and fi nancial assistance available
to landowners. The benefi ts of BMP projects
include improved surface water quality, reduced
erosion and sedimentation, enhanced groundwater
recharge, and reduced stormwater runoff. Recently
installed BMPs include grassed waterways, feedlot
runoff management systems, bioretention systems
(including rain gardens), wetland restorations,
gully stabilizations, and shoreline stabilizations.
Cost-share funding is provided by state grants
through the Board of Water and Soil Resources,
WCD, local government units, federal agricultural
programs, and other sources.
