Two Grade Stabilization projects<br />
were recently completed with cost-share and<br />
technical assistance provided by the Roseau SWCD.<br />
One was on the Warroad River located within the<br />
Warroad River <strong>Water</strong>shed. The project utilized a<br />
combination<br />
of rock riprap<br />
and woody<br />
vegetative<br />
planting<br />
for erosion<br />
control,<br />
as well as<br />
stabilizing<br />
the bank and<br />
residents’<br />
home. The<br />
second was<br />
located on the<br />
Roseau River<br />
within the<br />
Roseau River<br />
<strong>Water</strong>shed.<br />
This project (pictured above) was needed to repair<br />
river bank damage from fl ooding in 2002. Repair<br />
was done by pulling back sloughed materials and<br />
placing fabric and large rock riprap to hold and<br />
stabilize the river bank.<br />
Tree plantings of shelterbelts and<br />
windbreaks and Side <strong>Water</strong> Inlets have also recently<br />
been completed by the SWCD.<br />
Drought assistance was provided in 2007<br />
by the SWCD in the form of cost-share for wells and<br />
pond reclamation during drought conditions, and the<br />
SWCD assisted with EQIP program of Mulch till and<br />
No-Till as well as grazing rotations plan.<br />
