created by the Murray County Ditch 65 project, and (right)<br />

native seeding and rip rap were some of the techniques<br />

used to prevent erosion in the areas surrounding the<br />

restored wetland.<br />

A shared storage shed to house the district’s<br />

fi eld equipment was built by the SWCD in partnership<br />

with Murray County.<br />

The SWCD developed its own<br />

special cost-share program to help fund<br />

implementation of best management practices after the<br />

state cost-share funding ran out.<br />

The <strong>District</strong> offers to county<br />

landowners a Vi-con spreader and a land<br />

packer to assist them in seeding down small areas for<br />

CCRP and CREP programs.<br />

The SWCD is pursuing the idea of developing<br />

demonstration plots of native grasses for<br />

cellulosic ethanol production, as this type of<br />

biomass is currently being pursued as a viable<br />

sustainable energy source.<br />
