VIDEO Plus+
Using VIDEO Plus+ after digital switchover:
You can connect a digital box to your existing TV and
VIDEO Plus+ recorder using a SCART cable (see right).
VIDEO Plus+ can still be used to set recording start and
finish times by taking the following steps.
1. You will need to manually select the ‘AV ’channel on
your recorder and ensure that the digital box is turned
on and tuned to the channel to be recorded.
2. Source VIDEO Plus+ code numbers from newspapers
and listing magazines as before and enter in the same
way on the VIDEO Plus+ menu (Screen A).
3. The usual timer menu screen will appear (Screen B)
with date, channel, start and stop times. Using one of
the ‘select’ buttons (up/down arrows) on your recorder
remote control highlight the program channel line
(e.g. BBC1).
4. Using the ‘change’ buttons (left/right arrows) on your
recorder remote control, you must select the ‘AV’ channel
that the digital box is tuned to on your recorder.
Select ‘E1’ on the VIDEO Plus+ timer menu (Screen C)*.
*Your recorder may have extra AV sockets. If E1 doesn’t work, try the
same process but select E2 or another AV input.
Recording different channels at
various times or making unattended
recordings
You will need one of the many digital boxes with its own recording timer.
You can then set the digital box timer to come on to different channels but at
different times. The VCR would then record each.
If going out or to bed, then set the start and end times of the programme you
want to record and turn on and off accordingly.
Recording one channel whilst watching another
This will not be possible after digital switchover unless you get a second digital box
or ‘tuner.’ Adding a ‘twin tuner’ Digital TV Recorder (DTR) is the easiest solution for
independent channel recording and viewing with simple timer recording via an
Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) which is also known as an on-screen guide.
What is VIDEO Plus+?
The VIDEO Plus+ system provides a code number for a particular TV programme in
satellite and TV listings. This code can then be used in VIDEO Plus+ compatible
video recorders and DVD recorders to make recording easier. For further advice on
