Note: (1) Ex-servicemen holding higher rank <strong>of</strong> the above prescribed category<br />
may also compete in the recruitment for lower post provided they fulfil<br />
the eligibility criteria and also they furnish their willingness in writing<br />
that in the event <strong>of</strong> their selection they will not claim the post<br />
according to their rank they were holding in the Defence <strong>Force</strong>s.<br />
(2) Those who got Honorary rank while in service and retired, the<br />
Honorary rank will be considered for the equivalent rank in CISF.<br />
(3) Those who got honorary rank after retirement from service, the rank<br />
in which the individual was retired will be considered for the<br />
equivalent rank in CISF. The honorary rank bestowed after retirement<br />
will not be taken into account.<br />
(4) Persons who have already availed the benefit <strong>of</strong> Ex-Servicemen by<br />
getting re-employment in Government service etc., in any post, will not<br />
be eligible for the benefit <strong>of</strong> Ex-servicemen for this recruitment. All<br />
applicants will have to submit an undertaking as per Appendix – ‘H’.<br />
“Ex-servicemen” means a person who has served in any rank (whether as a combatant<br />
or as a non-combatant) in the Regular Army, Navy and Air <strong>Force</strong> <strong>of</strong> the Indian Union but<br />
does not include a person who has served in the Defence <strong>Security</strong> Corps, the <strong>General</strong><br />
Reserve Engineering <strong>Force</strong>, the Lok Sahayak Sena and the paramilitary forces; and<br />
i) who has retired from such service after earning his/her pension; or<br />
ii) who has been released from such service on medical grounds attributable to<br />
military service or circumstances beyond his control and awarded medical or other<br />
disability pension; or<br />
iii) who has been released, otherwise than on his own request, from such service as a<br />
result <strong>of</strong> reduction in establishment; or<br />
iv) who has been released from such service after completing the specific period <strong>of</strong><br />
engagement, otherwise than at his own request or by way <strong>of</strong> dismissal or discharge<br />
on account <strong>of</strong> misconduct or inefficiency, and has been given a gratuity, and<br />
includes personnel <strong>of</strong> the Territorial Army, <strong>of</strong> the following categories, namely:-<br />
a) Pension holders for continuous embodied service;<br />
b) Gallantry award winners<br />
v) The Territorial Army Personnel will be treated as Ex-servicemen with effect from<br />
15-11-1986.<br />
vi) The person serving in the Armed <strong>Force</strong>s <strong>of</strong> the Union, who on retirement from<br />
service, would come under the category <strong>of</strong> the Ex-servicemen as explained above<br />
may also apply for these posts one year before (as on the date <strong>of</strong> recruitment)<br />
completion <strong>of</strong> the specified term <strong>of</strong> engagement. They shall not leave the Uniform<br />
until they complete the specified term <strong>of</strong> engagement in the Armed <strong>Force</strong>s <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Union. Such candidates should submit a certificate from the Commanding Officer<br />
concerned as per Appendix – ‘G’.<br />
