Chapter 2 Program Instructions<br />

Field of Application Function returning the version of the firmware, printer family, or type<br />

of CPU board.<br />

Syntax VERSION$[()]<br />

is, optionally, the type of information to be returned:<br />

0 = Version of firmware (default)<br />

1 = Printer family<br />

2 = Type of CPU board<br />

Remarks The name of the firmware depends on if the printer is running in the<br />

Immediate or Programming Modes, or in the <strong>Intermec</strong> Direct Protocol. The<br />

version number of the firmware consists of two or three digits separated by<br />

a period (.) character. The first digit (e.g. 7.2) indicates the main firmware<br />

version. The second digit (e.g. 7.2) indicates a major upgrading level,<br />

whereas the last digit (e.g. 7.21) indicates a new sublevel caused by minor<br />

changes and/or debugging.<br />

The printer family is returned as one of the following alternatives:<br />

501XP<br />

601XP<br />

F2<br />

F4<br />

The type of CPU-board is returned as a string of text, e.g.:<br />

hardware version 2.1 (EasyCoder 501/601 XP)<br />

hardware version 3.0 (EasyCoder F-series)<br />
