Using the Magnetic Card Reader<br />

Operating the <strong>9560</strong><br />

The <strong>9560</strong> requires an IRL program to use the magnetic card reader. When you<br />

order the <strong>9560</strong> with an internal magnetic card reader, the IRL control program<br />

is already installed on the unit and on a disk.<br />

The magnetic card reader accepts magnetic cards that meet ANSI and ISO<br />

specifications for Track 2. Track 2 only encodes numeric data.<br />

To use the card reader<br />

1. Download the IRL program that controls the card reader to the <strong>9560</strong>. By<br />

default, the program is downloaded at the factory.<br />

2. If you are not using the factory default settings, configure the <strong>9560</strong><br />

communications settings for 9600 baud, 7 data bits, 1 stop bit, and even<br />

parity. See Chapter 7, “Configuration Commands,” or scan this label:<br />

3. Slide a card with a magnetic stripe through the slot, in either direction.<br />

Make sure that the magnetic stripe is facing up towards the top of the unit.<br />
