Using the Slot Scanner<br />

You can order the <strong>9560</strong> with an internal infrared or visible light slot scanner.<br />

The slot scanner is always triggered and available for input.<br />

To use the slot scanner, simply slide a bar-coded object (such as an<br />

identification badge, envelope, or file folder) through the slot in either<br />

direction. Make sure that:<br />

• the bar code is placed properly on the object.<br />

• the bar code faces up in the scanner slot as shown.<br />

Bar Code Placement<br />

<strong>9560</strong>-49U<br />

The scanning beam must pass through the entire bar code. The beam path is<br />

0.5 in (1.27cm) from the bottom of the scanning slot. For proper scanning, the<br />

bar code must meet the following specifications:<br />

• at least 0.2 in (0.51 cm) tall with a center line 0.5 in (1.27 cm) from the edge<br />

• parallel to the edge of the card or object that passes through the scanner
