Laffargue Description: Captain Laffargue’s pamphlet exposes the assault troops’ tactical principles. This event will give a bonus to all Combat Doctrines researches. Historical notes: Based on his 1915 combat experiences, French army captain Andre Laffargue summarized offensive tactics in his pamphlet “The attack in Trench Warfare”. Laffargue realized the importance of deep penetrations and therefore advocated sudden in-depth attacks that would disrupt the enemy, keep him off balance, and prevent him from organizing effective responses. Although his pamphlet was published by the French army, it was almost ignored by both the French and the British. When a copy was captured by the Germans in 1916, it was immediately translated and issued to units. Conditions: not before 1915. Difficulty: automatic. Enter in play: Events phase, any turn.
