Kornilov
Description: This event will allow you to attempt a “white” coup d’etat in
Russia.
Historical notes: Originally a Cossack born in Turkestan, Kornilov was a
career intelligence officer in the Imperial Russian army. Kornilov was
critical of the Russian monarchy and, after the overthrow of Czar Nicholas
II he was given command of the Petrograd Military District. In July 1917, he
became Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Provisional Government’s
armed forces. Kornilov shared the widespread belief that the country was
descending into anarchy and that defeat on the Eastern Front against the
Central Powers would be disastrous for Russia. After receiving an unclear
communiqué from leader Kerensky, Kornilov thought that he had been
authorized to send the Third Corps to impose order on the capital. Kornilov's
attempt collapsed without bloodshed as his Cossacks deserted the cause.
He and some 7000 supporters were arrested and Kerensky
dismissed his commander-in-chief from his post on September 9, claiming
Kornilov intended to set up a military dictatorship.not be defeated until 1921.
After a series of strokes, Lenin died on January 21, 1924, at the age of 53.
Kerenski
Description: This event will allow you to attempt a “blue” coup d’etat in
Russia.
Historical notes: After three years of war, Russia was exhausted. Alexander
Fyodorovich Kerensky, second Prime Minister of the Russian Provisional
Government, was faced with a provisional government that did not offer
much motivation to continue the war, with Lenin and his Bolshevik party
who were promising “peace, land, and bread” under a communist system,
and an army which was disintegrating due to a lack of discipline and
suffered desertion in large numbers. This situation was calling for a strong
man.
intelligence network of Czech revolutionaries provided important
intelligence to the Entente including the uncovering the Hindu-German
Conspiracy. After the February Revolution in 1917 he proceeded to Russia
to help organize the Slavic Czechoslovak Legions in their resistance to the
Austrians. In 1918 he travelled to the United States, where he convinced
