Option #2: Wassmuss sent in Persia – This will confer a diplomatic bonus
(+1 to die rolls on Diplomacy Table) for Central Powers towards all
diplomatic missions in Persia.
Option #3: Wassmuss leads the Senussi Uprisings – A small Senussi army
is formed and lead by Wassmuss with German help. The Senussi troops
will be allowed to move in Libya and advance in Egypt. This will make the
Senussi revolt much more to crush!
Notes: once successfully in play, the event is discarded and cannot occur
again.
Arab Revolt
Description: This event will bring serious troubles for Turkey in Arabia.
Entente will soon receive Arab corps as reinforcements, and Turkey will be
forced to garrison the Hejaz!
Historical notes: The Arab nationalists led by Grand Sharif Hussein
suffered hard under the repressions by the Turks and their Central Powers
allies. Consequently, they entered the war joining the Entente in June 1916,
hoping that this would help them in their cause of creating a single unified
Arab state spanning from Aleppo in Syria to Aden in Yemen. Hussein forces
counted about 50,000 men, but only 10,000 had rifles. In October 1916 the
British sent a young officer to assist the Arab rebels – known now as
Lawrence of Arabia. He was able to unite the efforts of different Arab tribes
and to direct their attacks against the strategically important railways, tying
up a relatively large Ottoman force. The Arab revolt continued until the
end of the war and was an example of what became known later as
asymmetrical warfare.
Conditions: Turkey must be at war.
Difficulty: die roll 3+.
Modifiers: +1 if Great Britain is at war, -1 if the event “Successful Jihad” has
occurred.
Enter in play: Events phase, any turn.
Option #1: (historical choice) Arabs raise in revolt in Hejaz – Turkey loses
immediately 4 NW points and a rebellions breaks out in Hejaz. Enemy
Arabs corps can now be deployed in Arabia. Turkey will have to leave at
least 1 garrisoning Corps in Hejaz. Otherwise she will suffer from a
National Morale loss of 1 point per turn. A new “Colonial Uprising” event
(against France) is generated and shuffled inside the deck. In addition, the
effects of the “Successful Jihad” event (if in play) are voided.
Notes: once successfully in play, the event is discarded and cannot occur
again.
Lawrence of Arabia
Description: This event will create the Arab army. The Arab troops will be
allowed to move in Arabia and advance in Hijaz, Palestine and Syria. This
will make the Arab revolt much stronger to crush!
Historical notes: At the outbreak of war Lawrence was rejected as
physically unfit for military service but his unique knowledge of the Levant
and Mesopotamia, gained while working for the British Museum, made him
a perfect candidate for the Intelligence Service in Cairo. In 1916, after a
British supported Arab revolt against the Ottoman Empire was in danger of
collapsing, Lawrence was sent to bring order and direction to the cause.
The experience transformed the introverted and studious Lawrence into
one of the most colourful military figures of the war. For two years
Lawrence and his band of Arab irregulars attacked Turkish strongholds,
severed communications, destroyed railways and supported the British
regular army in the drive north to Damascus. After the war Lawrence was
made a Companion in the Order of the Bath and awarded the
Distinguished Service Order and the French Légion d’Honneur, though in
October 1918 he refused to be made a Knight Commander of the British
Empire.
Conditions: Great Britain must be at war against the Central Powers and
Turkey must be at war against the Entente and the event “Arab Revolt” has
successfully occurred.
Difficulty: die roll 2+.
Enter in play: Events phase, any turn.
Option #1: (historical choice) Lawrence of Arabia leads the Arab revolt –
A small Arab army is formed and lead by Lawrence of Arabia with the help
of the British Empire. The Arab troops will be allowed to move in Arabia and
advance in Hejaz, Palestine and Syria. This will make the Arab revolt much
more difficult to crush! In addition, a new “Diplomacy” event is generated
and shuffled inside the deck.
Notes: once successfully in play, the event is discarded and cannot occur
again.
Political Stratagems
Description: This event will provide France with a lot of useful social
mutinies, rebellions, revolution and capitulation), -1 modifier to all
and become Prime Minister of France on two occasions, the first in October
1906 and again in November 1917. Clemenceau would be seen as a
